  1. It is a fair question. Here are my thoughts, for what they’re worth:
    Success, real success, comes from a combination of experience, hard toil and a measure of good fortune. I have just returned from Cuba where I heard the most beautiful voices singing Cuban songs and was wondering why it is that these people did not ‘make it big’ in the music industry. Of course the answer is never monosyllabic, but opportunity, connections and wealth most definitely come into the equation. Without a doubt, talent has to be present, but to all evidence it is a necessary condition, but not a sufficient condition; to hitch your wagon to the stars, you need a good car mechanic and someone to finance it too.
